This is a list of waterfalls in Western North Carolina. No account needed; if you do create one, you'll be able to track which places you have visited and rate them.
I enjoy making stuff like this, but REALLY enjoy making stuff that gets used. Please tell me how it could be more useful! jw@mustmodify.com
A ring is a group of nearby falls. The bigger it is, the more it holds — click one to zoom in and break it apart.
You can search by area (somewhat incomplete, I'm open to hearing what areas should be added) and filter.
There are several “challenge lists” — collect them all for fame, glory, and adventure! :) Wanderfall only shows you which waterfalls are on which list. You can track your visits here, but the lists belong to the people who publish them. Both NCWaterfalls.com and the Carolina Mountain Club have specific rules around how to get recognition for completion.
Rather read a list? Waterfalls by area.
The information here was gathered from several sources, including HikingWNC, NCWaterfalls.com, OpenStreetMap and the USGS. We look for consensus to try to increase accuracy.
You can get back to this card any time from the Actions button › Info.

Thank you — that's logged. No account needed, so I can't write back, but I read them.
Thanks — got it. We'll review and add it to the map.
Most of these waterfalls come with ratings from HikingWNC — how good they look, how well they photograph, and how much solitude you get. Pick one and every pin is shaded by it.
A group is sliced by what it holds, so you can tell a cluster of middling falls from one hiding a couple of great ones — without zooming into every single bubble.
Pick two — say Solitude and Beauty — and each fall is scored on the average of both. A stunning roadside fall full of people drops to the middle, and somewhere merely pretty that you'll have entirely to yourself climbs above it.
Anything without the rating you picked drops off the map rather than being drawn in a color implying a score it hasn't got. That includes every lookout tower, which have no ratings at all.
I don't know who you are and I don't have a list of waterfalls you've visited. So for now, this doesn't do anything.
If you decide to create an account then enter waterfalls, either in bulk or as you visit them, I can show you which ones you've been to … or not show them, so you can go to new ones.
Good hiking! —jw
